FAQ

How hard is IGCSE Add Maths?

It's definitely not easy. IGCSE Add Maths syllabus is essentially the same as the IB Maths SL syllabus, with a few things missing. Considering that IB Maths SL is taken over the last two years of high school career, I would say IGCSE Add Maths is quite advanced/hard. However if you are focused and motivated, you can complete it in only one year and if you do well, it will be tremendously good preparation for IB Maths HL which is definitely a hard course.

How to score A* in IGCSE Add Maths?

1. Make sure you are clear with all the content that is in the Syllabus Guide. Revise topics thoroughly and if your concepts are clear, the examination will be a walk-in-the-park.
2. Do as many Past Papers as possible. These’ll help you understand the structure of questions in the examination and they will also help you reinforce your conceptual clarity. Past Paper Mark Schemes will also help you understand exactly what the examiner is looking for, so know what and how to answer a question in specific questions.
3. Memorize all formulaes.
4. Get plenty of rest especially before exams.
5. Be confident.

At what age do students normally take the IGCSE Add Maths (0606) exams?

The normal age will be 16 almost invariably. A student might take it as a back-up option to an S1 if they really enjoyed exams aged 17. But earlier than age 16 it is more likely they will have taken the regular IGCSE aged 14 and then the additional one aged 15 because they entered school a year early or skipped a year and are planning to complete their A-levels aged 17 rather than 18.
